Liberal Theorists
- John Locke - Known as The "father of Liberalism" by some. John Locke opposed authoritarianism of the church and State and believed in the freedom of self determination, separation of church and state, religious tolerance and the ownership of private property. Some of these aren't just classical liberalism but modern liberalism like separation of church and state and religious tolerance. self determination being close to the pillar of worth and equity, individual's are treated equally being allowed to control themselves.
- Montesquieu- One of his more important contributions being his theory on of separation of Powers. This theory having government broken into three branches: The legislative, executive and judicial. This system would divide up the power of the government neither one group having supreme control and forcing the branches on working together. For this system to work the people would need to be involved in their government and have civilian responsibly. This Model is used in most constitutions around the world.
- Adam Smith - One of the most influential thinkers in the field of economics today. Smith laid the foundations of classical free market economic theory.
- John Stuart Mill - An English interested in the protection of individual freedom and the promotion of individual decision. John Stuart Mill was also was an early Feminist he believed marriage being the legal subordination of one sex to the other he believed this wrong and should be replaced a principle of perfect equality. He heavily supported the liberal pillar of worth and equality.
